About Us
Family Expertise in Cattle Breeding Excellence
Welcome to Anvil Creek Santa Gertrudis Stud
We are a family-owned farm dedicated to excellence in cattle breeding. Our team consists of established veterinarians and agricultural science professionals. We have a proven track record of success, having developed Vet’s Best Rewards, Love’em Liver Treats, and Animal Pharma, a veterinary pharmaceutical business specialising in palatable medications. At Anvil Creek, we are committed to best practices in all aspects of our work, ensuring the highest quality and care for our animals and our clients.
Our Farm is in the Heart of the Upper Hastings Valley...
Anvil Creek is 4,000 acres of quality grazing country in the Upper Hastings valley, 55 km west of Wauchope and 100 km east of Walcha on the Oxley Highway, with fertile creek flats rising through wooded native grasslands to basalt and serpentinite plateaus. Pastures consist of both introduced and native grasses; kikuyu and winter fodder on the creek flats, kangaroo grass and other native species on the slopes, and setaria and rhodes grass on the plateaus.
Our Practices for Healthier, High-Performing Cattle
At Anvil Creek Santa Gertrudis Stud, we employ the latest techniques to ensure the highest quality in our cattle.
Our core operations include DNA testing and weight recording to track and enhance genetic traits and growth performance. We implement rotational grazing to maintain pasture health and optimise animal nutrition.
Our stud animals are independently certified for structural soundness by the Santa Gertrudis Breeders Association, and our bulls undergo semen testing and are fully vaccinated against pestivirus, clostridium, and vibrio. Additionally, we pregnancy test our cows, culling any empty animals to maintain a productive herd. These rigorous protocols ensure that we deliver the best high-performing cattle to our clients.
